These are the days~Van Morrison

So this song jumped into my head after hearing a few lyrics on American Idol. It was actually my daughter who heard it and wanted me to find it for her. I did not even think that I would be able to find a song with only a few lyrics and a melody. I kept repeating the melody in my head until I could almost hear the words. One night as my girl and I were sitting on our laptops in her apartment, I decided to look for this song. I knew it had to a Van Morrison song and I knew I heard it before as well. I started my search. I looked at every Van Morrison song and came up with nothing. I was about to give up when I decided to try one last time. I went and typed in Van Morrison without a title of a song and I started playing each and every one of them. Again, just when I thought I was at a deadend, this video popped up. I saw the title and I knew....I just knew that it was the song. I yelled and told my girl, I think I found the song we were looking for. I played it once and sure enough, it was the song. I could not believe that I had found it again. You see, it was a song that I had heard way back when the movie "Nine Months" was out in the theatres, when the English actor, picks up his child and dances around the room with him with this song playing in the background. I fell in love with it right there and then. I bought a tape (I know, there were no CDs back then) and played it over and over again. Well, guess what? I emailed it to John Smith and he loved it too. Now, I can make it official. WE have a song!!!!!

Big big lake.....

The lake as far as the eye can see, that is Lake Athabasca. It can bring sorrow as well as happiness to those who have felt its' wrath. I have been blessed to have gone out on this beautiful body of water once and have felt very vunerable and tiny. The water is a sacred element to those who follow the Aboriginal teachings from our grandfathers and grandmothers. Water quenches our thirst when we are in a sweat lodge and water is used in blessings in other spiritual gatherings as well. As I recall, Pocahontas looks out on the great lake and sees her John Smith for the first time. Many a day I would walk to the lake and look out and wonder, when will I meet my John Smith? Is he looking for me as well? Will we see each other for the first time across an expanse of water just like Pocahontas did?

Sunset...one of many

Sun setting on Lake Athabasca. I walked here to the shoreline this fall knowing that I would again see the wonders of the Creator's hands. The sunsets are phenomenal as is the sunrise. I know that today is my birthday and looking back at these photos again reminds me of how lucky I am to still see beauty among the chaos.

Pictures...

This church is located by the lake. It is a place where people gather as community and where many weddings have taken place as well. I love the way the sunsets look when you are at the right angle and your camera captures the sun rays on the windows. I walked to this church which sits by the lake everyday and thought of how beautiful life is here for me. I get lonely, yes, but like I said, there are changes happening in my life right now and I am waiting for someone to enter my life, someone that I can love.

Life in Fond du Lac....

I've taken many many pictures of the lake and the sunsets are so awesome...it's unbelievable.....this place is so beautiful....so beautiful....the Creator always shows me so many beautiful places and allows me to meet so many wonderful people...I am grateful.....

I also decided that today, as it is my 55th birthday, I am going to do something different, something that I haven't thought of doing before. You will see what I mean in a later post.

FDL...Director of Education

I am now in Fond Du Lac, a fly in community with about 1000 people here, right on the shores of Lake Athabasca....it is beautiful here. I will post some photos later. The job is pretty awesome, and extremely busy. I am still in the process of hiring teachers and the school board would like me to look for new teachers, so if you know of any still looking for a teaching position, send them my way. I advertised on Education Canada and have looked at numerous resumes already. I am so busy that I don't have time to get lonely. I've been to meetings in the south, which is nice, since it gets me out of here at least once a month.

I would love to hear from all of you and where you will be teaching. Where are you at Leighton? Pam? Raheela?

How are things in Leaf? Nelson? Thompson?

Until I hear from you all, good luck in your new jobs and if you have any questions....I am just a phone call away or a click away in this case....we can connect by email as well...

Mile 20 Grad and Convocation

Just to say, CONGRATS, to you all. I wish I could have been there. I really wanted to be, but due to circumstances beyond my control, I could not make it.

I would love to see photos of both grads though, and emailing them to me would be great. I can still get into my UCN account, but I am not sure how much longer I can.

This is one way of keeping in touch and I want to hear from ALL of you out there. I am still here!!! Hope everyone has an awesome summer and I want to hear where all of you are going to be this fall.
